Paper jams used to the biggest problem with printers. But now, high-tech home and office printers have become alluring targets for cybercriminals. Researchers at this weekend’s ShmooCon 2011 convention in Washington, D.C., will demonstrate how Internet-connected printers that aren’t properly secured can be hijacked and used to gain unauthorized access to corporate networks they’re running on, according to an article in MIT’s Technology Review.

Canon forecast its operating profit would rise by one-fifth this year as the Japanese camera and copier giant outperformed rivals on sales of its EOS and IXY digital cameras and cost cuts. The world’s largest maker of digital cameras expects 470bn yen (£3.58bn) in operating profit for the year that ends in December, against the average analyst estimate of 472.5bn.

HP on Tuesday confirmed that it's dealing with a shortage of replacement black toner cartridges for its low-end monochrome LaserJet P1102W and LaserJet M1212 printers. For the past several months, HP partners have been unable to procure the HP-branded CE285A black toner cartridge through distribution. Sources from several major distributors told CRN this week that the CE285A toner cartridge has been either backordered or available in very limited quantities

HP Takes ePrint Into The YouTube Comedy Club

Toner cartridges maker Hewlett-Packard will use its ePrint technology as part of a new live comedy event. The firm has announced HP ePrint Live, which it calls a "crowd-sourced live event and video series" that will be broadcast live on YouTube. Hosted by comic Rob Riggle, with actors from the famous UCB Theatre, viewers will be encouraged to send in ideas for jokes and improvisations via ePrint technology. The ideas sent in will be printed out from printers placed on stage, from which Riggle and the actors will perform skits live over the course of a two-hour show.

Google Cloud Print Lets You Print From Your Mobile Device

Apple's AirPrint technology may not be quite ready for primetime (at least outside of a few specialized printers), but that's not stopping Google from offering its own competing service, aptly christened Google Cloud Print. Announced on the Google's Gmail blog on Monday, Cloud Print allows you to register one or more of your printers with Google's cloud services and associate them to your GMail account.

For now, this 3D food printer is quite a bit like the replicator technology NASA is working on only in food form. It builds the desired food out of multiple fine layers of said food in a paste form.

Cleveland printer is first Color-Logic certified digital printer in North America

Color-Logic has announced that Admiral Products, based in Cleveland, Ohio, is the first digital printer to be certified as qualified to offer the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color System.  Announcing the certification, Color-Logic Technical Director Richard Ainge commented: “Admiral Products has demonstrated their ability to print using the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color Process utilizing their HP Indigo ws4500 press.  Color-Logic is pleased to welcome Admiral Products to the constantly growing worldwide list of printers using the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color System to produce a wide variety of metallic special effects.”

CPI Graphics takes HP Designjet L25500 on the road

Ricoh invests $300 million in managed document services

Ricoh Co will invest $300 million to bulk up its document management business, capitalizing on corporate demand for services such as paper scanning and storage while cutting its reliance on printer sales. The Japanese company, which will make the investment over the next three years, is the latest of a string of rivals including Xerox Corp and Canon Inc to announce expanded offerings to corporate clients.

Pada awalnya pergerakan printer ini normal normal saja. tapi pada saat warmingup scaner tiba tiba bunyi trek trek trek trek terus lalu blink gambar kertas dan tinta. ini terjadi karena scaner sudah lemah dan sudah tidak mampu membaca sensor jadi langsung aja ganti dengan yang baru ( harga scanernya aja mungkin sekitar 300 ribuan kalo tidak salah) atau cari kanibal.

Irvine's Kofax to Sell European Scanner Unit

Irvine’s Kofax PLC, a maker of software that helps businesses cut down on paper and data entry, said Monday it’s shedding its European division that distributes scanners and servers in a private equity buyout valued at about $23 million. Kofax is selling its business distributing scanners, copiers and servers made by others to Germany’s Hannover Finanz GMBH.
